Match an Ontario Roll Number, PIN, and Legal Description
Addresses are useful for orientation, but the parcel identifiers control the property research file.
Start with the roll number, PIN, legal description, and municipal address as four separate fields. Write the fact in the same words used by the authority and preserve the document or record that supports it.
Next, record where each identifier came from and stop when one field conflicts with the others. Separate what the source confirms from the questions that still need a municipal answer, registry search, inspection, or professional review.
The practical limit is simple: a familiar street address can point to the wrong parcel, a split parcel, or a neighbouring property If a material fact remains unresolved, record the uncertainty and reduce the bid limit or walk away.
